The minor axis of the standard short-ish oval steel Maillon Rapide (GO 7) is just slightly too small to fit around the pivot/attachment point on the Allp. (I have an idea on how to make it better but it would involve modifying the descender which is not something I want to do at the moment) I'd also possibly have made the screw a coarser pitch so it varies the friction more quickly. I found it a little hard to load the rope in the Allp not sure if this was because of how it was oriented or a general problem.

I guess this orientation risks bumps to the screw side of the descender from the wall. I tried it with the screw facing away from my stomach, wasn't really a problem.
